Thank you for your interest in volunteering at the ANNUAL Manitoba Cat Show
We have several volunteer positions available for this year's cat show. Please indicate your preference in the application form below.
1. Set-up and take-down crew
A cat show requires a lot of set up to turn an empty room into a show hall. While the club has contracted for the heaviest work to be done by outside help (setting up tables and chairs, moving supplies from storage to the hall etc.) much remains to be done. For example, while the cages have been brought to the hall they still have to be set up in the judges' rings and made "cat-proof". Dividers have to be set up; supplies have to be organized. While this work is not heavy, it goes much faster with many willing helpers. Once the show is over, the process is reversed.
2. Ring stewards
Each cat is taken in order to each Judge's Ring to be judged. After each cat is judged the cage has to be cleaned. The Ring Clerk will provide guidance in cleaning the cages. Being a ring steward provides an excellent opportunity to see all the cats and to see the mechanics of a cat show. We need a ring steward for each ring.
3. Hospitality
During the show the judges or ring clerks may require water or other refreshments. The judge cannot take time to leave the ring so it is the responsibility of the person providing hospitality to provide them with what they need at their Judging ring.
4. Concession stand
The club operates a concession stand which sells soft drinks, chocolate cars, chips and other candies. The concession stand also sells tickets for the raffle. The concession stand is important in two ways: It provides supplies to the exhibitors and selling tickets to the raffle provides significant income to the club.
